One of our favourite parts of Stampede every year is seeing our community come together, and this year's McKenzie Towne Stampede Breakfast on High Street did not disappoint.
The weather couldn't have been better, the atmosphere was amazing, and it was wonderful catching up with so many familiar faces. If you've ever been to the breakfast before, you know it's a huge event. They typically expect more than 5,000 people, and in some years attendance has topped 8,000!
As Mike said during our live draw, "The line gets pretty long, but they're professionals at moving people along." It's true—the line may have stretched around the corner at times, but it moved surprisingly quick, leaving more time for pancakes, entertainment, and visiting with neighbours.
Connecting With Our Community Face to Face
Community events like this are one of the many reasons we love living and working in Calgary's southeast. It's always a great reminder that real estate is about so much more than buying and selling homes— those are important parts of what we do, but they are only part of the story. It’s also about building connections and supporting the communities we call home.
For the Burton Home Team, serving the community means being present. It means attending the neighbourhood events that bring families together. It means supporting local organizations and businesses. It means creating reasons for people to stop by, have a conversation and enjoy a little fun together. The Stampede Breakfast gave us another chance to catch up with past clients, meet new residents and visit with people we regularly see around McKenzie Towne and the surrounding southeast communities.
Some conversations were about real estate. Many were not. They were about summer plans, children, soccer, Stampede activities and what was happening next in the neighbourhood. Those casual conversations are often where the strongest community connections begin.
Congratulations to Our Winners!
Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, took a photo with Mikey, and entered our World Cup LEGO prize giveaway. We had so much fun chatting with everyone and hearing who you thought would take home the FIFA Club World Cup trophy.
April, when asked who she would have picked, went with Argentina—and apparently she wasn't alone! Argentina and France were the clear favourites among everyone who entered.
The prizes were a huge hit (LEGO definitely isn't getting any cheaper!), and we loved seeing the excitement from kids and adults alike. April joked during the broadcast that some adults were just as eager to win as the kids!
Congratulations to our winners:
- Cristiano Ronaldo LEGO Set: Jacqueline
- Kylian Mbappé LEGO Set: Melissa
- Lionel Messi LEGO Set: Durga
- Soccer Ball LEGO Set: Sarah
- Grand Prize – World Cup Trophy LEGO Set: Mariah
We’ve already delivered the prizes to the happy champions!!
Thank You
A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello, entered our contest, or simply spent the morning celebrating Stampede with the community. We genuinely appreciate every opportunity to connect with you.
If you were at the McKenzie Towne Stampede Breakfast, I'd love to hear what your favourite part of the morning was. Leave us a comment or send us a message—we always enjoy hearing from our neighbours.
Summer Fun Isn't Over Yet
While Stampede 2026 may be wrapped up, there are still plenty of great community events ahead.
If you're in Mahogany, we're looking forward to the BURTON Beach Blaster, which is always a fantastic day for families. Over in McKenzie Towne, the Music in the Park series returns later this month, and it's one of those events that's worth bringing a blanket for, grabbing something from the food trucks, and spending the evening enjoying live music with friends and neighbours.
As Mike mentioned during the broadcast, "It's really becoming quite a popular event." We attended the June Music in the Park event (which was well attended!) and had an awesome evening! Come check it out with us July 31.
Here's to a wonderful rest of the summer, and we'll see you at the next community event!
